Expedia reports that searches for islands are up 55% by 2025 and social media engagement is up 20%. Regardless of global economic fluctuations, climate concerns, or anything else, islands continue to attract significant travel interest, reflecting a fascinating slice of the globe.
Expedia researchers analyzed global flight search data to identify the fastest-growing, most dynamic islands, offering travelers alternatives to traditional destinations that combine natural beauty, cultural depth, and sometimes better value.
The list of the 10 most popular islands ranked Phu Quoc at number 9, one of only two islands representing Southeast Asia, alongside Palawan in the Philippines . Forbes, citing Expedia, stated: " Phu Quoc is emerging as a luxury resort destination in Vietnam, combining tropical beaches, protected forests, and a growing portfolio of private villas and upscale resorts. Its advantageous location, marina infrastructure, and direct international flights make it easily accessible to travelers seeking a quieter alternative to the busier transportation hubs of Southeast Asia.
